About FoFP 3-Month Online Program


VAXEL’s 2020 FoFP Level 1 program is an evolution of its flagship, comprehensive NISM IA X-A & X-B Certification Training program known as ePAFP (eLearning Program in Applied Financial Planning).


The objective of VAXEL’s 2020 FoFP Level 1 is to not only train existing and potential entry level professionals (0-3 years work ex) to clear NISM’s Investment Adviser X-A & X-B certification exams but also to provide them with the knowledge, skills and outlook required to be successful FoFPs and /or work in FoFP firms.


FoFP Program Eligibility Criteria


1. Post Graduation (Updated SEBI RIA Criteria)

Full time (minimum 2 years) Post Graduation or Post Graduate Diploma (minimum 2 years duration) from a university or an institution recognized by the Central Government or any State Government or a recognized foreign university or institution full time degree, with minimum 60% or CGPA of 3.0/4.0 in Commerce, Economics, Finance, Business Management, Law, Accounting, Costing, Capital Markets, Banking, Insurance and Actuarial Sciences.


2. Work Experience

As this is an entry level program targeted at fresh postgraduates aspiring to be para planners at SEBI RIA FoFP firms, prior relevant work experience is preferable but not compulsory.


3. Time & Effort Commitment

Aspirants have to commit to minimum 2 hours of daily study / 10 hours weekly for a period of 3 months, and ensure minimum 80% attendance and score 60% and above in internal mock tests.


FoFP Program Delivery Mode


This will be an online module with 48 hours of live online classes with classes scheduled on weekdays evenings.


2. Each live online class session is typically of 1.5-2 hours duration delivered over a 2-month period (Nov-Dec).


3. Minimum 80% attendance required.


4. Learners will be evaluated by the facilitator on attention, engagement, contribution to class discussions.


FoFP Program Curriculum


Module 1: NISM-Series-X-A: Investment Adviser (Level 1) Certification Examination Objectives


Passing the NISM-Series-X-A: Investment Adviser (Level 1) Certification Examination and NISM-Series-X-B: Investment Adviser (Level2) Certification Examination) is required of candidates to fulfil the requirements under Regulation 7(2) of the SEBI (Investment Advisers) Regulations, 2013.


The objective of these 2 examinations is to create a common minimum knowledge base for all associated persons registered as an investment adviser and partners and representatives of investment advisers offering investment advisory services under SEBI (Investment Advisers) Regulations, 2013.


The certification targets enhancing the quality of investment advisory and related services in the Indian personal financial services industry.


Examination Objectives: NISM-Series-X-A: Investment Adviser (Level 1) Certification Examination
On successful completion of NISM-Series-X-A: Investment Adviser (Level 1) Certification Examination, the candidate should:


  • Know the basics of investment advisory, steps in the advisory process, making and implementation of a personal financial plan for a client.


  • Understand in a personal finance context, how to evaluate different products, their suitability and how the recommendation of the same can impact investment risks, returns and formulate suitable strategies for clients investing in various asset classes.

  • Get acquainted with Income Tax, Wealth Tax, and legalities of Estate Planning in personal finance, and regulatory aspects underlying advisory.


  • Get immersed into personal financial planning as an approach to holistic 360-degree life cycle based financial planning across investments, insurance, retirement, tax and estate planning and aid in the development of long-term relationship between advisors and their clients.

The NISM-Series-X-A: Investment Adviser (Level 1) Certification Examination


  • Consists of 100 questions of 1 mark each and should be completed in 2 hours.
  • The examination passing score is 60%

On successful completion of the NISM Series-X-B: Investment Adviser (Level 2) Certification examination, the candidate should:


• Know how to apply comprehensive personal financial planning in the context of households based on the planning elements learnt in Level 1 Certification Examination.


• Understand the importance of asset allocation in personal comprehensive financial planning, impact of structure, movement and performance of securities markets; importance of asset allocation and how said impact of the market movement affects assets performance.


• Know the practical aspect of product selection, portfolio construction, review and re balancing based on clients need.


• Know the compliance, operations and service elements in investment advice.


Assessment Structure


• The examination consists of 8 caselets with 4 multiple choice questions of 2 marks each per caselet and 36 multiple choice questions of 1 mark each adding up to 100 marks.


• The exam duration is of 2 hours.


• Negative marking is 25% of the marks assigned to a question.


• The exam passing score is 60%
